Sugar-free for two weeks

Sugar free for two weeks?! Huwhat?!

Today is day five of me going sugar-free.

First off, why am I doing it?

I'm looking for ways to get healthy and support my body as it runs.

I saw this video many moons ago and was intrigued, but I didn't really go forward. Then it reappeared in my YouTube suggested videos recently.

Watched it again, and here we are—

I wanted to see if going sugar-free (or low sugar) would really help heal and support my body.

So far:

  1. Lost about 5 pounds — likely just water weight.
  2. No food cravings throughout the day — I eat well and I'm satisfied. I do crave some sugary stuff every now and then, but it's darn easy to resist now.
  3. Brain fog — Almost nil. Previously I had the worst case of brain fog!

Dr. Berg claims there are other physiological improvements happening such as reduced inflammation and healing my organs. Obviously I won't know if my heart and kidneys are getting better, but I'll take it.

The best part of this is I'm not starving and I feel nourished and satiated. The food I'm eating:

  1. Meats — Beef, fish, pork, chicken
  2. Butter — Mainly grass-fed butter
  3. Cheese (cheddar)

I know it looks suspiciously like the Carnivore Diet.

It's not intentional, it's just that it works for me during this experiment.

If this works out for me though, I might just continue on with some slight modifications (like the inclusion of caaaarbs).

So far I feel great. Will keep you updated!

P.S. I finished Week 3, Day 1 of None to Run today. Crushed this run.

I did nine 1-minute run, 2-minute walk intervals. I had to "slow run" two of the nine runs, but otherwise I made new PR and covered 1.75 miles. Almost half a mile farther than usual.

Aaaand I realized that my calves are not hurt or sore because I'm super heavy and a terrible runner. It's because I was running mildly uphill half the time. Imagine that 😂 (also why I ran most of the runs in this session downhill — to give my lower body a gentle break).

One more: It's my first "rainy day" run! It was a mild drizzle, but it was raining nonetheless. Woohoo!
