Day 14 of Sugar-Free (or Carnivore Diet)
My sugar free diet experiment is a success... what next?
So today marks two weeks of my sugar free diet (I opted to do the Carnivore diet) and I'm happy to report I've never felt better.
I feel:
- Stronger
- Lighter
- Clearer — Zero (or minimal) brain fog
- Healthier
- More energized
Three things that I love about it:
- The food choice is easy — in my case, meats, eggs, and dairy. This has dramatically simplified my life.
- I'm satisfied and feel full for a long time — I never feel deprived. And I can look ice cream, rice, bread, and pancakes in the face even hours after I last ate without any strong cravings. All without feeling FOMO.
- I'm fat-burning and fat-adapting — Weight loss to run faster and reduce stress on my joints + Fat-adapting so I become a more efficient runner.
The downside
- The food gets boring — Meats, eggs, and dairy 24/7 lolz. I'll be introducing fruits into my diet, but not anytime soon.
- The price of meat — I try to get grass-fed & grass-finished beef, but man they're expensive. Especially the fatty ones like ribeye. I need to find a butcher by me fast!
- Have to eat organs like liver to get complete nutrients — I'm not opposed to it, but liver is not yummy. Maybe I'll just get some vitamins from Heart & Soil.
The upsides are definitely worth the downsides.
What Now?
I've decided to stay on this diet, specifically, the Carnivore Diet.* I feel great, got great results, my life is simplified, and it supports my running, too. Studies show that it's healthy —which is important of course. Win!
*A note that not all sugar-free diets are Carnivore. Keto is another sugar-free (or low sugar) diet. I just chose Carnivore for myself.
Carnivore Diet
What the heck is the Carnivore Diet anyway?
According to the Carnivore Diet Coach:
In its most basic definition, the carnivore diet is an elimination diet. It's a nutrition strategy that focuses almost exclusively on eating animal produce such as meat, organs, fish, dairy and eggs. Usually to fix autoimmune or metabolic issues.
It's the perfect diet for me because I started obese (I still am) and it helps me "reset" many things:
- Addiction to sugar
- My cell health (excess sugar consumption is baaaad for you)
- Obsession with food
- Mental state: The brain fog is gone!
- Just overall healing
So yeah, I'm staying on this diet...
I'm healing, I'm happy, I'm feeling awesome.
Now, some people might say they do well in their vegan, vegetarian, balanced, etc. diets. That's great. I'm happy for you.
We're all built different. Our lifestyles, preferences, goals, etc. are all different. So naturally, the things that work for us will be different too. If Carnivore works for you, too, excellent! If not, I hope you find a diet that helps you feel as healthy (or even more) as I do in this diet.
Would love to know the diet you prefer (or lack thereof)!
